THE ORIGINS OF THE MAYA CIVILAZATION

We turned in there travel itinerary to the archaeological zone of Chichen Ittsa. This is the most famous and best restored place in South America, the Mayan settlement. Before going into this archaeological reserve, do not forget to stock up drinking water and sunscreen cosmetics, because when the local heat even chocolate skin takes risks to be burned. The area of Chichen Ittsa is very big, a great number of monuments of ancient Mayan culture and life still remain underground. Between the pyramids they saw fearlessly running iguanas, happy to pose for the cameras.

The largest pyramid is Kukulkan (“fiery serpent” in the Mayan language). Twice a year during the spring and fall “a crawling snake” can be seen on the side faces of the pyramid which emerge with the help of light and shadow. 365 steps (!) - and you're on top the most famous architectural creations of ancient civilizations. Climbing the pyramid is easy, but walking down, it seems a little scary for the angle of inclination of the pyramid allowed no vision of the steps by which the people should go back. It seems like an abyss under your feet. But the view from the top is stunning. All the churches are in full view: for example, the temple of thousands of soldiers with a statue of the god Chuck, where the ancient people used to place their sacrifices - the heads and hearts of soldiers. A little further there is a field for ball games. At the time of ancient Mayas this game was played by members of royal families only. The rules were very complicated and strict. The ball could only be hit by a knee or a hip, but it was necessary to get it into the ring attached to the wall three meters high. On the field there was a bas-relief showing episodes of the games. What do you think the winner expected? Gold bullion? Royal castle? No. They played for the great honor to be sacrificed!
Despite the heat and fatigue which began to be felt after several hours of exploring Chichen Ittsa and climbing Kukulkan, after the descent you are, conversely, full of strength – there is a power in the pyramid!

While in Cancun, one should not miss visiting the archaeological park Shkaret. We reserved a whole day for the visit. The best way to get there was by a rented car and by the opening hours of the park at 8.30, as coaches come there only at 11.00. This tour was quite costly, with the entrance fee of about $ 100, but it was worth it. There is a huge zoo with all kinds of animals - iguanas, turtles, pumas, jaguars, beautiful recreation area and a beach, an underground river flowing through the caves and jungles. Here in the park they found the best butterfly conservatory pavilion in the world, a greenhouse with orchids and a water area with dolphins (this is the whole show, in which the main characters are you and the dolphins). And the evening they enjoyed a folk concert, heard the songs of different states of Mexico and saw the dances and the notorious royal ball game.

Even the souvenirs offered to the tourists are charged with the positive energy of Cancun: statuettes of obsidian (a very beautiful stone dark brown), the Mayan calendar (which are considered the most accurate), engraved on the silverware, bright blankets and ponchos. Everything is very cheap. But the point is, of course, not savings, but the fact that you get a chance to take away a piece of the ancient world, which will be the memory of the trip through Travelocity Promotional Code, Orbitz Promotion Code and Expedia Coupon Code into the amazing country of Mexico.
